The Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy High School Academic Team finished as the first runners-up at the North Carolina Association for Scholastic Activities “The Twelve” State Finals at Northwest Guilford High School in Greensboro, NC on Saturday, Nov. 20. The Early College at Guilford finished 1st, and Forsyth Country Day finished 3rd.
“The Twelve” is a knowledge-based academic competition that challenges teams of 12 students to answer questions covering a variety of subject areas from Calculus to Civics. The team did especially well in the literature and geography categories earning participants Dominik Mystkowski, Jack Parker, and Jack Willis recognition as members of the first NCASA All-State team. Other participants were Camden Sloan, Aidan O’Reilly, Jennie Conner, Maylan Maxwell, Katrina Shauf, Dominic McCraw, Hunter Plaster, Ava Bridges, and Sydney Evans. The team is coached by Kimberly Lloyd.
