Seniors Colby Hardin, Emma Bucker take top honors at FMC scholarship auditions

 
 

AVONDALE — Two Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy (TJCA) seniors were recently recognized by the Foothills Music Club (FMC) for being winners of the FMC scholarship auditions. 

Colby Hardin won the Lesley Oakes Scholarship. Colby, a classical guitarist, performed Asturias by Isaac Albeniz, which is considered one of the most difficult pieces written for classical guitar. Colby intends to be a music major and attend Appalachian State University beginning fall of 2022. He is a student of TJCA teacher Amy Brucksch.

Emma Buckner won the Betty Van Buskirk Scholarship. Emma, a violinist, performed the Allemande from Partita #2 in g minor by Johann Sebastian Bach. This is one of Bach’s most outstanding and demanding works for unaccompanied violin. Emma is planning to major in music at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee beginning in the fall of 2022. She is a student of Jennie Quinn in Hendersonville.
