TJCA inducts 26 students into the National Honor Society

AVONDALE — Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy (TJCA) inducted 26 students into the National Honor Society (NHS) during a ceremony held in Leitner Auditorium on Friday, Sept. 13, 2024. The event, which honors the academic and character achievements of the school’s top-performing students, is one of the most prestigious events of the academic year.

This year’s inductees included juniors and seniors who meet the strict eligibility criteria of maintaining a cumulative GPA of 4.0 or higher, as well as having a clean record of discipline.

The National Honor Society is one of the nation’s most respected organizations for high school students. It was established to recognize outstanding academic performance, leadership, and service to the community. Membership not only highlights academic achievement, but also serves as a platform for students to engage in meaningful service projects at the school and in the local community.

The newly inducted students, Anya Akuneme, Sophia Bell, Lucas Byers, Samuel Calton, Kasey Haynes, Addison Hill, Andrew Joseph, Michelle Joseph, Joshua Kalapurakal, Aubrey Keller, Dakota Keller, Delaney Kinter, Bryson Luther, Everett Maass, Mitchell Maxwell, Jace McDonald, Ansley McNeely, Brenna McNeely, Aspen Ostrom, Maryelise Outten, Britzy Paredes, Maris Rogrs, Taia Schneider, Hannah Siviglia, Yazmin White, and Gabe Zuniga, have demonstrated exceptional academic and character achievements.

The ceremony included a formal introduction of each inductee and speeches by the NHS officers, which highlighted the four pillars of the National Honor Society: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. NHS Seniors Hattie Hamrick and Alden Grondahl also spoke to the student body and faculty about their experiences with NHS. 

The induction marks a significant milestone for the students, as membership in the NHS is a nationally recognized honor. Beyond celebrating their academic excellence, NHS membership provides them with the opportunity to further develop leadership skills and make a lasting impact on the school and the community.

With their induction into the National Honor Society, these students join a long tradition of scholars and leaders who have gone on to make meaningful contributions in various fields.
